Hypthesis 2 : Students spend most of their free time on the internet.
Data: We surveyed everyone in the class asking :
1) How much free time do you have in 1 day
2)How much of that time do you spend on the internet
Statistical Measure: Fraction (e.g. 90 / 120)
Diagram: Bar chart - 1 bar for how much free time, another for how much internet time
Conclusion: The results are unclear. As you can see, the proportions are random. However, if we add results the fractions, the 8.2 math set spends over half of their free time on the internet.
Improvement: To improve, I would have made a pie chart so that we could see proportions clearly. However, the way I presented my data made it hard to put on a pie chart.
I would also change the type of my bar chart (like Jason's) - so that it would show proportions easier. but as previously mentioned, I have tried but the way I presented the information made it confusing.
Firstly, I would like to applaud you on your attention to detail - for example, you show your improvements, and show the results - added together, and fractions.
ReplyDeleteHowever, with a rose, there are thorns - your conclusion is limited, and does not anwser your hyphoses - your results and anylzation are very well put together, but your conclusion lets you down just a bit. Try to expand on the anwser to your theory using your results.
Hokyin (wrote most of this) & Anh Tu
I think that your information is clear and you've shown and commented on your work and your results which is good. However, I agree with Hokyin and Anh Tu, your conclusion is unclear, i think you should also, like hokyin and anh tu said, expand your answer. :)
ReplyDeleteso cliche anh tu
ReplyDelete"8.2 math set spends over half of their free time on the internet"; the hypothesis was answered. But yeah, I do think we should've expanded on our conclusion. :)
ReplyDeleteArnet, I disagree. It all depends on your hypotheses - how much is "Most of their time", half? 66%? 80%? Please clarify this. Hokyin.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Atomic Sushi, I wrote that, not Anh Tu. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Hok yin, although true he is my partner but i think the hypothesis was answered and the only problem with yours is that you should expand your conclusion. HOK YIN I HELPED YOU WRITE THAT!
ReplyDeleteFor statistical method, can you explain in more detail? Not just fraction?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I used the fancy language. AND THAT AWESOME SIMILE. :D
ReplyDeleteWell I think it's a bit obvious. If something, for example time, is 51%, then it is already "most of their time".
ReplyDeleteWasn't the standard for whether something was more than another over 50%?
soo... what does the grapgh show? how does it prove or disprove the hypotheses?
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the graph, most of the time, the blue is over half of the red. This shows that students from 8.2 Math set do spend most of their free time on the internet.
